A week after dropping the jazzy joint "Fate," Mick Jenkins is back with his latest track, entitled "11." The track's title is representative of the amount of times that Eric Garner said the words "I can't breathE" while being placed in a chokehold by officer Daniel Pantaleo, a chokehold that ultimately killed him. The melancholy track reflects on the experience of being an African American in this day and age. Says Jenkins on the track: "Everybody wanna be a nigga, don't nobody wanna be a nigga," essentially saying that everyone is quick to participate in the culture and appropriate the culture of African Americans, but not willing to experience the drawbacks to being an African American, such as being racially profiled.
