On this day, Sept. 13, in hip-hop history...

2009:  It lasted only 22 seconds but it might be the most famous moment in a career of incredibly famous moments. On Sept. 13 2009, at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech to protest Beyoncé's loss of the Best Female Video award to Taylor Swift.

Kanye West rushed the stage and jacked the microphone from Taylor to declare he thought "Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all-time" before sheepishly shrugging and heading off stage. The incident ignited a firestorm of criticism for West who many thought was disrespectful and rude to Swift to show her up during her acceptance speech. It also launched one of the most famous musical internets memes of all-time as many fans photoshopped West into various situations interrupting famous events to declare a similar event's superiority.

Seven years later, Kanye and Taylor are still at odds. Kanye mentioned Taylor in the song "Famous" off his 2016 album The Life of Pablo, rapping ""To all my Southside niggas that know me best, I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/Why? I made that bitch famous." This comment reportedly sent the 1989 singer into a tailspin of rage because 'Ye was insinuating that he is responsible for her fame.

Things got even more high school when Kanye's wife, Kim Kardashian posted video of Kanye West calling Taylor to approve of "Famous," the song where he infamously raps the lines on her Instagram and Snapchat. Because Taylor sounded happy for the mention during the conversation with Ye, many fans called her a fake and proceeded to make memes and GIFS about her.

To date, he war between Kanye West and Taylor Swift definitely isn't over.
