2009: Harlem rapper, Max B was sentenced to 75 years in prison for his role in planning the armed robbery, kidnapping and murder of David Taylor on September 3, 2009. According to authorities, Max B, who's real name is Charly Wingate, had sent his ex-girlfriend, Gina Conway, and her stepbrother, Kelvin Leerdam, in 2006 to a Holiday Inn to rob two men in Fort Lee, New Jersey.

After ambushing and restraining one of the men, Allen "Jay" Plowden, Conway and Leerdam shot Plowden's partner, David Taylor, at point-blank range in the head when he arrived on the scene. Plowden survived and a week later, Max B was picked up by authorities in connection with the murder. After a lengthy trial, Max B was found guilty of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, kidnapping, aggravated assault, and murder. He was sentenced on September 3, 2009. Although Max B has continually asserted his innocence since his conviction, a judge denied an appeal on August 30, 2012 and he is set to serve the remainder of his 75-year bid in a New Jersey prison.
