6ix9ine's former associate, Jamel "Mel Murda" Jones, has officially been sentenced.

On Thursday (Oct. 17), Mel Murda appeared in front of a judge to formally receive a sentence of 135 months in prison. Inner City Press reporter Matthew Russell Lee reported the news this afternoon.

" outside in case Judge Engelmayer guves 135 months Jamel Jones, press freedom issues @SDNYLIVE," he tweeted.

Prior to the judge's decision, prosecutors requested that Mel Murda be given a sentence of 135 to 168 months, which they say would be a reasonable reflection of the overall seriousness of Mel Murda's crimes. Mel Murda's lawyer asked for a sentence of 78 months behind bars.

Back in April, Mel Murda, who allegedly served as the leader of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, pleaded guilty to one count of racketeering conspiracy and one count of participating in a narcotics distribution conspiracy for selling a kilogram of fentanyl.

Last month, Mel Murda didn't participate in the trial of his fellow Nine Trey gang members, Aljermiah "Nuke" Mack and Anthony "Harv" Ellison. 6ix9ine testified against both men in court in September. However, Mel Murda's name came up multiple times throughout the proceedings. At one point during the trial, prosecutors played a phone call allegedly between Mel Murda and Jim Jones during which they discuss how to "super violate" 6ix9ine.

The former Diplomat Records signee was also brought up in transcripts of conversations with Kifano Jordan (aka Shotti, Tekashi's former manager) and others. The conversations led authorities to believe that the group was possibly looking to harm or even kill 6ix9ine.
