Irv Gotti believes it's time for hip-hop to openly accept artists who identify with the LGBTQ community.

TMZ caught up with the creator of BET's Tales series as he was walking in the streets of New York City. During their impromptu conversation, the cameraman asks the Murder Inc founder how he feels about artists like Lil Nas X coming out. He tells the celebrity gossip site that to him Nas X's sexuality, as well as the sexuality of other artists, doesn't matter.

"Yeah, we don’t care," Gotti explains. "If it was like 20, 30 years ago, it would be a shocker... 2019? Who cares. Just be whoever you are, and we’ll accept you for who you are."

In the past five years alone, there has been a slew of LGBTQ artists who have managed to make an impact on hip-hop like Young M.A., Kevin Abstract and Azealia Banks. Other artists like Frank Ocean, Kaytranada, ILoveMakonnen and Chance The Rapper's brother Taylor Bennett chose to come out within the last few years and be open about their sexual preferences in their music.

Gotti isn't the only prominent figure in the rap industry to co-sign LGBTQ artists. In fact, rappers like 50 Cent, Aesop Rock, CupcakKe and plenty more MC's have all embraced the gay community on numerous occasions. However, according to ILoveMakonnen, a lot of other rappers in the game aren't quick to support music from gay MC's.

“I haven't had any vocal support from any of them," ILoveMakonnen said in a June 21 interview on Beats 1 Radio. "You know what I mean? To say that it's cool, it's okay, for whatever. Not even it's cool, it's okay, but just like, we accept you and we fuck with you still. None of them had said that to me. It is what it is. But I just don't want people to get it twisted. Don't think that it's all good in the hood, because it's still not until people can man up and face themselves. Then they could face me.”

Hopefully, Irv's comments will help change the mentality of artists everywhere. Catch what he has to say about LGBTQIA+ artists below.
