DJ Khaled plans to honor Nipsey Hussle in a major way.

On Wednesday (May 15), the irrepressible DJ announced that he was giving the rapper's children all the profits for "Higher," which is an upcoming song featuring the late rapper and John Legend.

Khaled announced the song in a lengthy message he posted to Twitter and Instagram. In the message, Khaled reflects on the time he spent with Nipsey during their video shoot for "Higher." He also confirms that he got the blessings to give the money to Nip's kids, Emani and Kross.

"The very title of the song reminds us that vibrating on a "Higher" level was the essence of Nipsey's soul," Khaled says. "It is in this spirit, of moving forward, of preserving his mission that I, my co-writers, producer and label partners are donating 100 percent of our proceeds from "Higher" to Nipsey's children, Emani and Kross."

Nipsey Hussle was shot and killed in front of his clothing store The Marathon just three days after he hung out with Khaled and John Legend to film the music video for "Higher." In his message, Khaled explains that Nipsey's death was a life-changing experience.

"Recently, I embarked on a soul-searching journey down a road I never thought I would travel in a million years," Khaled says. "It began when a tragedy robbed the world of an enlightened soul, a brother, a father, a partner and my friend, Nipsey Hussle. Just days prior, he shared his energy and positivity with me on a video set for a song called, "Higher." After much prayer and reflection; and with the full blessing of the Asghedom family, I am sharing that moment with the world."

The song is expected to appear on Khaled's 11th studio album, Father of Asahd, which drops May 17. Read DJ Khaled's message about Nipsey Hussle and see the album cover below.
