Stormzy Cancels Show, Accuses Security of Racial Profiling

British rapper Stormzy feels as though his team was just racially profiled before taking the stage, and as a result of that, he's canceled his set at an Austrian music festival.

The grime rapper pulled out of his scheduled set at Snowbombing Music Festival in Mayrhofen, Austria after accusing security guards of racially profiling his management team before his performance on Wednesday (April 10). According to the festival's statement, security guards were alerted that an individual at the festival was allegedly carrying a weapon. As per their protocol, guards selected festival goers, including Stormzy's manager, to be searched at the festival's exit.

"My manager and all my friends who were at the festival were racially profiled, targeted and aggressively handled because they had 'reason to believe someone was carrying a weapon,'" Stormzy explained in his IG Story. "The security targeted them (despite no one fitting the description), were physically aggressive when handling then and there's been no effort from the festival to actually deal and address the problem.

Stormzy also apologized to his fans who dedicated their time and money to watch him perform. In their statement, reps for Snowbombing "wholeheartedly apologize to Stormzy's team" and say they will take steps to make sure nothing like this ever happens again.
