Jay-Z was honored with the President's Award at the 2019 NAACP Image Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday night (March 30). The Roc Nation founder was saluted for his outstanding work in public service and using his platform for criminal justice reform.

During his acceptance speech, Hov dedicated the award to all of the strong women in his life, including his 93-year-old grandmother, Hattie White, and his mother, Gloria Carter. Hov started things off by quoting 16th U.S. President Abraham Lincoln before going on to speak on White.

"It's not the amount of years in your life. It's the amount of life in your years that count in the end," Jay began. "That quote, it embodies my beautiful grandmother, who I would like to dedicate this award to. Her name is Hattie White. She's 93 years old."

"She is so full of life and she, among other accomplishments, being super great and very tough, she raised seven kids, one little walk up in Brooklyn. 615 Lexington, started my life," Hov continued. "On top of that, her kids had kids and we all were raised in the same house. One household."

From there, Jay credited his mother and his grandmother, for helping him believe he could achieve anything “because of those strong women in my house.” “I would like to dedicate this award to those beautiful women,” he added.

Jay-Z then thanked his wife. "I'd like to dedicate this award to a beautiful woman in my life, Ms. Beyoncé," he said with the audience clapping along.

Jay finished his speech thanking the NAACP Image Awards for giving him a trophy that his grandma can now put on her mantle. “And then when she's sneaking pork and her legs swell up, she can remember how much of a G she is,” he concluded.

In a funnier bit, Hov gave Childish Gambino a bit of a shoutout just before he started off his acceptance speech. "I think I'll start by saying a quote by our very humble and kind-hearted president," he said as the audience chuckled. "I was talking about Donald Glover."

Other NAACP Image Award winners included Kendrick Lamar who nabbed two honors, including Outstanding Soundtrack/Compilation for the Black Panther soundtrack. Childish Gambino won for Outstanding Music Video/Visual Album for "This Is America." Finally, 50 Cent nabbed a trophy for Outstanding Drama Series for his Starz drama, Power.
