A$AP Rocky is paying homage to Soulja Boy in a big way. During an interview on L.A.'s Real 92.3 radio station yesterday (Jan. 31), Rocky claimed that Big Drako is one of the main reasons he's in the rap game today.

"If it wasn't for Soulja Boy, A$AP Rocky probably wouldn't be around," Rocky said before bringing up the way people like Kanye West and Pharrell are also influential. "It's not too far-fetched as me saying 'If it wasn't for Kanye and Pharrell I wouldn't be able to do what I do in fashion.'"

In an era where Soulja Boy claims to have fathered the likes of Drake and 6ix9ine, Rocky clearly has no problem admitting that Soulja helped paved the way for his career.

"[Soulja] kinda made a formula," Rocky said. "He was the first to do it and it work for him and since then I think that kind of became a basis of a standard way to make it."

Rocky has been giving credit where it's due. Before 2019 Yams Day went down in Brooklyn, Rocky also gave props to a few rising women in hip-hop. During his Jan. 16 interview with Angie Martinez, Rocky said that Young M.A and Rico Nasty are some of the illest female rappers in the game.
