Lil Durk Says He Stays Away From Doing 6ix9ine-Style Social Media Antics

Fresh off releasing Signed to the Streets 3, Lil Durk stopped by The Breakfast Club to talk about his new music, his departure from Def Jam and signing his new artist, King Von. He also made some time to speak on 6ix9ine, a jailed rapper he spoke with on FaceTime at the height of the rainbow-haired rapper's disputes with Chicago rappers.

When hosts Charlamagne Tha God and Angela Yee comment on 6ix9ine’s social media use, the past XXL Freshman insists he will never use the platform in the same manner as the Brooklyn rapper notoriously has.

“You ain’t never going to see me doing that,” he says. “You see what’s going on. You see the feds involved in the music, y’all got hip-hop police going on, people tripping on themselves in music. You ain’t gonna see me say nothing on the Internet. I’m promoting.”

Durk's comments came the same day that the U.S. District attorneys revealed that they were going to use 6ix9ine's Instagram activity as evidence against him in their federal racketeering case against the rapper. With that in mind, it's easy to understand Durk's point.

Elsewhere during his Breakfast Club visit, Durk explains what he and the rapper discussed amid 6ix9ine's issues with other Chicago artists.

“I ain’t gon’ lie, to me it’s like I told him, I took that like it’s a joke,” he says, speaking on 6ix9ine’s gang affiliations and persona. “I could see right through him. I ain’t really got a problem wit the kid. I don’t wish jail on nobody, not even my worst enemies. I hope he get out and be safe in there.”

At another point of his conversation with The Breakfast Club show hosts, Durk was asked about who influences him, going on to cite Future, his “big brother” French Montana, Meek Mill, Lil Baby and Gunna. He also was asked about his thoughts on 6ix9ine, who is currently facing a slew of federal charges.

He continued, explaining how he feels that even though he doesn’t buy into 6ix9ine’s approach to promoting himself on Instagram, he understands it.

“Anybody you meet, you can tell off the rip,” he says. “That’s how he move, that’s how he get his money so you can’t tell him what to do. I’ve been thinking about jail coming out the womb, I know what it is. It’s just how you carry yourself.”
