Hip-hop's year of tragedy continues. On Sunday (Oct. 14), it was reported that Marley G, a rising artist purportedly signed to Rap-A-Lot Records, was shot and killed. Although there aren't a lot of details about the shooting, a source close to Rap-A-Lot Records has confirmed to XXL that the rapper has passed away.

Before his untimely death, Marley G had developed a following after dropping off tracks like "I Got Em," the video for which has been viewed over 240,000 times.

In the early going, artists like YBN Nahmir and YBN Almighty Jay paid tribute to the slain rapper, uploading Instagram posts to do so.

"Gettin tired of makin post like this long live @officialmarleyg 😔👼🏽 #MobTies4L 🖤 #Izzup," Nahmir wrote in a caption for an Instagram post that included an image of the late Marley.

For his part, Jay posted his own photo with the slain rapper. "RIP @officialmarleyg LOVE YA BRO," wrote the YBN rapper.

In her own post dedicated to the slain rapper, Lil' Kim wrote, "Heartbroken 💔 I’m at loss for words 😢 My little brother @officialmarleyg RIParadise Young King 🙏🏽 #ripofficialmarleyg 😔😔😔."

Marley G's death marks just the latest in what's been an all too common theme of rappers falling victim to gun violence. This past June, XXXTentacion and Jimmy Wopo were shot and killed on the same day.
