Best Songs of the Week Featuring Travis Scott, YG and More

The summer is just flying by at this point. Even with the good weather starting to dwindle away (well, for some of us), there's plenty of good music to enjoy, no matter what the temperature is. This week had some surprises: new music from artists with albums on the way, impressive collabs and much more. Get everything you need from this week's edition of XXL's best songs of the week.

As you know, Travis Scott finally let Astroworld free. The album is packed with good songs, but "NC-17" is special. The track also features 21 Savage, who delivers a hilarious pun about G.O.O.D. Music and sex. The beat knocks and Travis is bragging at a higher level. The song is everything you'd want from both artists.

Another highly-anticipated album from today is YG's Stay Dangerous. The entire project is a return to classic YG, bringing back memories of his earlier singles. "Too Cocky" sums up this idea well, as it hits like a modernized version of early YG; it feels like the streets of L.A. If it gets a video, it can definitely go places.

Ohio's own Trippie Redd's debut album, Life's a Trip, will be here by next Friday (Aug. 10), and he dropped his new song and video "Together/Bigger Than Satan" as a teaser of what's to come from the final project. The track itself is about sticking together and relying on your friends to keep you focused. For someone who is gearing up for the biggest release of their career, it's a timely message.

It's a good week for Midwestern rappers period, considering Kentucky's Jack Harlow just released his new song and video "Sundown," a celebration of the success that he's experienced so far. For such a fun song, he really snaps, showing how skilled he is as a pure rapper.

Nef The Pharaoh's Big Chang Theory is also dropping this month. His single "86," which also features Cuban Doll and ALLBLACK, is a good introduction to what he's been working on. The song has a great bounce and is Nef's recollection of getting kicked out of the club for wildin' out.

Considering his album Swimming dropped today, Mac Miller releasing a new song this week makes sense. "Inertia" caught a lot of fans off guard, but it was a great gift. The track, which doesn't appear on his new LP, is really a freestyle, where Mac recaps what's been going on with him as of recently. He sounds refreshed, with a new and clearer mind-state.

Wifisfuneral's "Fade Away" is just as personal as "Inertia." The South Florida talent raps about some of his emotional struggles over a spaced-out beat. As your profile grows bigger, it becomes harder to trust; Wifi seems to be in that situation.

Up next, a string of strong tracks with features. Ski Mask the Slump God and Warhol.ss team up for the hilarious "Ankle," where Ski says, "Yuh, I might bend yo' bitch just like Kurt Angle" along with more outrageous similes. Warhol also drops another wrestler reference with "Ric Flair, Nature Boy, I be runnin' with the realest."

Moneybagg Yo pushed back his EP, Bet On Me, exactly one week, releasing it today. It was worth the wait, as Yo's collab with Gunna, "Wat U On" is really a jam. As two of the rappers who make getting money sound extra cool, this track is a great mix of their styles.

Skinnyfromthe9's "Jump Out That" featuring PnB Rock is another good collab from this week, with both rappers bragging about classic cars and women. The two have good synergy sound-wise, and evidently have more songs stored.
