Atlanta rapper Father is taking his indie imprint mainstream after striking a creative partnership deal with RCA Records. Announced on June 21, the move will allow the Awful label to sign artists to Awful Records/RCA Records, or give them the option to develop artists via The Orchard distribution system.

The first release from the new partnership will be Father's upcoming solo project, which is set to release in the fall. Along with Father's record, more projects from other artists will be released, which will be announced soon.

Speaking about the deal, Father praised Awful as an indie label but added that the imprint now has the chance to take things further. “Awful has done a lot for indie music. We showed many just how far you can get on your own," he said.

"Now we finally have the opportunity to take things further and grander with RCA Records," Father continued. "Not only that, it was given to us on our own terms. When you put as much thought into the music as we do, you want it to be heard.”

It's been a while since the "Hands" rapper released a new project, last dropping I'm a Piece of Shit in 2016. The 12-track project includes guest appearances from Abra, Stalin Majest, Archibald Slim, Tommy Genesis, Ethereal and Micah Freeman. ILoveMakonnen also makes an appearance on the songs "Why Don't U" and "Party on Me."
