Just a few days after putting the PRhyme 2 Tour on hold because of his father's illness, DJ Premier has now revealed that his dad has passed away.

The legendary producer delivered the heartbreaking news on Twitter on Sunday (June 10), posting a photo of him holding his father's hand. "A RARE BREED... YOU WAITED FOR US AND YOU TOOK YOUR LAST BREATH PEACUEFULL IN YOUR OWN HOME THE WAY YOU WANTED," Preemo wrote. "GLAD WE WERE HERE IN THE HOUSE TO SEE YOU GET YOUR WINGS... LOVE YOU DAD! R.I.P."

While Premier did not reveal what exactly his father was battling, the producer previously said his dad was extremely sick. "However, due to my father being extremely sick, we (Royce and I) had to make a very difficult decision to postpone the remaining PRhyme 2 tour dates," he told fans on Instagram last week.

Before the postponement of the tour, the duo had shows scheduled for June 7, June 14 and June 15 in Detroit, San Francisco and Los Angeles, respectively. There's no word on when the dates will be made up, but Preemo did say they would "reschedule every postponed date as soon as possible."

The seven-city tour originally kicked off on May 30 in Philadelphia but Premier and Royce 5'9" were only able to play two more shows in Boston and Washington, D.C. before putting the tour on hold.
