There's been a heavy debate amongst hip-hop fans over who invented trap music and its signature sound, but it looks like T.I. is battling for his credit as a pioneer. A few days ago (April 7), Gucci Mane posted a throwback post on Instagram claiming that he "invented trap music" with his 2005 album, Trap House.

Now, T.I. is chiming in on the topic once again, and appears to take some shots at Guwop for labeling himself as the subgenre's inventor. Tip has previously stated his beliefs in interviews last year that he invented trap music, and in a new Instagram post, shares a Wikipedia screenshot of his 2003 Trap Muzik album to disprove anyone other debate on the matter.

"Ok,so.... AGAIN for the slow ones in the back...August 19th,2003 Birth of Trap Muzik & Only fools dispute facts!!!" T.I. captions the photo. "FOH wit that Christopher Columbus ass... “Look what I discovered, even though they was already here” ass shit!!!! WITCHO GOOD CAPPIN ASS."

If you recall from last year, T.I. claimed in an interview with Angie Martinez that he created trap music, as there was "no such thing" as the subgenre before him. He also said that Trap Muzik was sort of the genesis for trap as a sub-genre.

It's hard to tell if Tip is directly responding and firing off at Gucci's claim, but there's no question that he wants to always be established as the creator of the popular subgenre in any debate.
