It's been almost two years since Lil Yachty released his debut mixtape, Lil Boat, and to celebrate the occasion the rapper will be dropping a sequel, Lil Boat 2, on March 9.

While no further information about the project was revealed, Yachty did share the upcoming record's artwork, which features the rapper standing shirtless in the water. Lil Boat 2 will arrive exactly two years after the release of the first project.

Originally set to release in December, the project was delayed, but Yachty recently revealed the record was finished. "Lil boat 2 is done kid," he wrote in comment section of an Instagram Live session.

Along with Lil Boat 2, Yachty is also working on a joint project with Takeoff. After previewing a new song on Instagram, Yachty told his fans, "I been quiet, just finishing my shit up. That was me and Takeoff, by the way. Me and Takeoff's project coming real soon. Lil Boat 2 coming soon, all that."

In May, Yachty released his long-awaited debut album, Teenage Emotions, but the project's sales didn't meet expectations. According to the rapper, the album didn't sell as well because people don't understand him.

"I understand first week numbers didn't do what most people expected but that's only because they don't understand me," he said. "They don't understand us. I don't expect anybody to. I make it for those who listen."
