Kendrick Lamar has had a great night so far at the Grammy Awards in New York City, and he punctuated his most recent win with a shoutout to a fellow California rapper. After grabbing the award for Best Rap Album Sunday night (Jan. 28), thanks to DAMN., he showed some love to Sacramento rapper Mozzy.

Once it was announced that he won, Kendrick humbly took the stage. Moved by his latest award, Kendrick paused to share what he had on his mind. "As my guy Mozzy say, you know, God up top, all the time, real talk, you know?" he told the crowd.

The quote itself is a reference to Mozzy's 1 Up Top Ahk album, it's title being a reference to God. While Mozzy's work contains detailed stories of street tales, it still has a spiritual foundation; songs from someone who wants better for himself. Speaking of self-improvement, he recently made waves by quitting lean, around the time that he discovered he has a child on the way.

Everything has gone Kendrick's way tonight, from his incredible performance that opened the Grammys, to his award haul. K. Dot's night started with an amped up performance medley of "DNA." and "XXX." with appearances from U2 and Dave Chappelle. After the crowd settled down from that, he began to rack up the prizes. While he walked away with multiple accolades tonight, his biggest so far is surely Best Rap Album.
