Vic Mensa is one of hip-hop's more knowledgeable artists, so it should come as no surprise that the Chicago rapper is always looking to broaden his horizons.

On Friday (Dec. 29), Mensa hopped on Twitter to ask his followers about an emerging house music-inspired genre in South Africa. "What is the name of the South African house music called "qoong" or something like that," the rapper tweeted.

While Mensa wasn't too far off with the genre name — it's called Gqom — the rapper quickly received a brief lesson about the genre from South African radio personalities Lebang and Afrika.

"Yo Vic, we break down what gqom is and what you need to do when a gqom song drops @LebangKgosana has the Vosho 101 on fleek," tweeted Afrika, who also posted a video of himself and Lebang playing two popular Gqom songs and teaching Mensa about the Vosho dance.

"So, basically a very hard hitting beat that is super catchy and follows with the dance move called Vosho," Lebang said before showing the rapper some new dance moves. Vic eventually caught wind of Afrika's tweet and replied, "Thanx guys!"

In related Vic Mensa news, The Autobiography rapper recently expressed his interest in playing Prince in a biopic. During an interview with Montreality, Mensa said, "I think I should play Prince in the biopic... The reason why I'd be able to kill the role as Prince is because I got that mouthpiece. Prince was butter smooth with it and I feel like I could do it."

While it's yet to be seen if Mensa has the acting chops to play the Purple One, the rapper did dress up as the legendary artist last year for Halloween.
