2016: On Christmas Day, Troy Ave was shot twice while sitting in his car in New York City.

Dec. 25 is supposed to be a festive day, but Dope Boy Troy found himself in a dire situation, this time last year. Around 4:20 p.m., the 2014 XXL Freshman was sitting in his red Maserati at East 91st Street and Linden Boulevard, in Brooklyn's Canarsie section, when someone walked up and fire multiple shots into his vehicle without warning, hitting the BK MC twice - once in the head and once in the back.

"Tonight, Troy Ave was targeted again...on Christmas," Troy's attorney, Scott Leemon told XXL in a statement, following the shooting. "In Brooklyn, going to meet his family for the holiday, he was shot two times. Thankfully, he will survive the second attempt on his life. As we have said from the beginning -- he is a victim. We pray for his speedy recovery."

One day after the shooting occurred, Troy was released from the hospital with a bullet still lodged in his skull. He later hopped on Instagram and posted video of what his car looked like in the aftermath. "Blood in tha Foreign! some is mine, most is Jesus' I'm blessed so Ima bless y'all wit a new mixtape #DopeBoyTroyVolume1 u Ready?," Troy captioned the clip. He also recounted the incident on the song, "Amazing Grace."

Troy seemed to wear the incident as a badge of honor, calling himself the second coming of 2Pac.

This closed out an already infamously eventful 2016 for the BSB rapper who was involved in the Irving Plaza shooting, earlier in the year.
