Yelawolf Releases ‘Trial by Fire’ Album

One year after canceling his Trial by Fire tour after what appeared to be a mid-concert meltdown, Yelawolf returns with an album of the same name. Joining the Alabama rapper on an album he's called his favorite are Juicy J, Kid Rock, Lee Brice, Joshua Hedley, Wynonna Judd, Travis Barker and Bones Owen.

Checking in at 14 songs, Trial By Fire finds Yelawolf mixing genres like rap, rock and blues as he takes us on a trip through his psyche. On the album's titular track, Yelawolf tells the story of his birth over some bluesy instrumentation. On the Juicy J-assisted "Punk," he spits over an instrumental that feels equal parts country and hip-hop.

"I'm a million lightyears away from the dark/A thousand miles and running/Country boy can survive/I'm alive, a loaded gunnin'," Yelawolf raps over a beat that sounds more like "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" than any other song Juicy J's ever been on. It's an interesting project, to say the least.
