Following the April death of New Orleans rapper BTY YoungN, two men linked to the case have been indicted for murder.

According to a report from NOLA.com, Darryl "Dino" Bannister" and Kyron D. Williams were each charged with second-degree murder on Thursday (Sept. 14). The bonds for each defendant were set at $1 million. While Bannister has been in jail since his May 15 arrest, Williams remains at large, as police have been searching for him since he was named a suspect on Sept. 1.

Authorities were able to connect Bannister to the killing after his cellphone was discovered at the scene. But Bannister maintains his innocence, telling police his phone was stolen at a party before the shooting occurred. Authorities acknowledged that another person's DNA is on the phone but have not revealed further details.

BTY YoungN, born Desmone Jerome, was shot dead on April 29 at a Shell gas station in the Hollygrove section of New Orleans. YoungN's body was discovered with multiple bullet wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 27 years old.

Shortly after his death, the late rapper's mother said her son's life was taken over jealousy. "Jealousy is behind it," she said. "Because of his success as a rapper. He would literally give you the shirt off his back. He loved kids to death. It’s just rough.”

The young rapper rose to popularity after signing with Birdman's Rich Gang label and had previously worked with Juvenile on the 2009 album Cocky & Confident.
