Lives were irreversibly altered when Hurricane Harvey passed through Texas a few days ago. In the wake of the disaster, rappers from every part of the country have done their best to help those affected by the storm, and Russ is one of them. On Tuesday (Aug. 29), the rapper used his Twitter account to reveal he had donated a large sum to the Red Cross in Houston.

In the tweet, Russ laments the fact that Texas, a place he feels has shown him love throughout his career, is experiencing such a tragedy. He then announces his sizable donation.

"Houston & Texas in general has always shown me so much love. Crazy what's happening...just donated $35,000 to the Red Cross. Keep the faith," Russ wrote in the tweet.

In making his donation, Russ joined a growing list of rappers helping those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Drake and his longtime friend Future The Prince worked with relief groups in Houston to help everyone affected by the storm, and Nicki Minaj donated $25,000. Houston resident Paul Wall also announced he was planning hurricane relief events.

For his part, Houston native Trae Tha Truth jumped in a boat to help Houston survivors of the hurricane. “I felt helpless yesterday when I had to be rescued, so I know that feeling,” he said in an interview that day. You can't do anything but respect that.
