2006: Miami rapper Rick Ross made his mark on the new millennium with the release of his debut album Port of Miami on Aug. 8, 2006.

Thanks to Ross' gruff, bass-heavy bars and trap-laden production, the album revealed the dark underbelly of America's sexiest party city like never before. The Carol City MC told stories of drug deals gone bad, crooked cops and shoot-outs on speedboats while Cool & Dre, Akon, DJ Khaled, The Runners and more provided larger-than-life sounds. Before the album was even released, the LP's first big single "Hustlin," released in March 2006, catapulted the Bawse to early stardom. "Hustlin," "Push It," and "I'm a G" featuring Lil Wayne and Brisco made sure Ross' name dominated the charts all summer and propelled the project to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, moving 187,000 copies in first week sales.

At the time of it's release, POM made a huge impact on the game and positioned Ricky Rozay as the new king of the 305. In XXL's initial review, the staff concluded that the project was one of the best of the year, writing, "Bustling with boatloads of husky gangsta music, Ross’ debut, Port of Miami, officially lifts the veil off his city."

Two years ago, for the 10th anniversary of the LP's release, Rozay held an anniversary concert in his hometown and streamed the whole event on Tidal. It's expected that Rozay will drop off his Port of Miami sequel, Port of Miami 2: Born to Kill, at some point in 2018.
