Moneybagg Yo was involved in a shooting that took place at a New Jersey rest stop that left two people injured.

The incident happened last night (Aug. 19). NBC4 is reporting that a black Sprinter van the Memphis rapper was riding in was hit with gunfire in or around the Thomas Edison rest area off the New Jersey Turnpike.

Two people were injured during the shooting, with witnesses saying one was suffering from a head wound. Both victims were alert before being transported to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown. Moneybagg, who was in the area to perform in Newark, N.J., was not injured during the shooting. It is unclear what role his camp played in the incident. He was seen being escorted to a police car for questioning, but he was not arrested.

At the time of the report, police have no suspects in the crime.

Moneybagg has been building on his buzz for the last couple of years, signing with Yo Gotti's CMG imprint last October.

XXL talked to the rapper last month, and he spoke about rising above negative situations like this. "Where I came from, I came from all the way from the bottom. I want people to look at me and look at my situation and say, ‘I can do that.’ I want to motivate everybody on this globe,” he said.

Last month, he put out his most recent project, Federal 3X, which features YoungBoy Never Broke Again.
