6lack and Timbaland Hit the Studio Together

Timbaland has inspired producers and artists alike for decades, so when one gets to work with him it's not only a huge honor, but there's a pretty solid chance that whatever they cook up is going to be a hit. The latter definitely applies to 6LACK, who has become the latest to work with the veteran hitmaker. As expected, their new collab already sounds like pure musical bliss.

Today, Timbo uploaded a video to Instagram of himself and the rising R&B star working together on a track that showcases both of their strengths. The hard-hitting production works cohesively with 6LACK's flow, a modern R&B style that's helped him move over 1 million records as of last month, a well-deserved win for the Atlanta act. Though not much else is known about what 6LACK and Tim have in store, hopefully the caption ("@6lack x timbo #withthesmoke") means more than just a track is on the way, especially since the last scene in the clip reads "album coming soon."

These days, 6LACK is still riding off the success of his debut studio album, Free 6LACK, released last November. This year, he's partnered with The Weeknd on phase one of his Starboy: Legend of the Fall Tour and hit the stage at Panorama Festival, joining the ranks of seasoned artists like A Tribe Called Quest; Tyler, the Creator and Frank Ocean.

In our spring issue of XXL magazine, 6LACK told us to expect new music from him this year, as we've already seen with "That Far" and an unreleased song he publicly debuted in London back in late March. “I don’t have any plans to fall back,” he told XXL. “I’ve been working since the week after I finished the project, so it’s just a matter of me feeling like the time is right.”
