Update (July 4, 4:47 p.m. EST):

A source close to the situation tells XXL the $20 million Jay forked over to Kanye was actually not for the Saint Pablo tour, but something unrelated years before that.

Original Story:

The JAY-Z and Kanye West drama continues with new reports emerging about the $20 million Hov referenced giving Yeezy on the much-talked-about track, "Kill Jay Z," off the new 4:44 album.

On the track, Jay appeared to subliminally air out 'Ye spitting, "You walkin' around like you invincible/You dropped outta school, you lost your principles/I know people backstab you, I felt bad too/But this 'fuck everybody' attitude ain't natural/But you ain't a saint, this ain't kumbaye/But you got hurt because you did cool by 'Ye/You gave him 20 million without blinkin'/He gave you 20 minutes on stage, fuck was he thinkin'?"

According to sources close to TMZ, the eight-figure payout was a part of the Chicago rapper's deal with Live Nation, though another source tells XXL the money didn't come from Live Nation. According to TMZ, it was an advance to cover Yeezy's extravagant touring expenses for his Saint Pablo tour. So it appears Jay didn't exactly "give" Kanye $20 million but fronted him the lump sum.

Another part of the jab about Kanye apparently hit a sour note with his wife, Kim Kardashian. The line where Jay spits, "Fuck wrong with everybody?’ is what you sayin’/But if everybody’s crazy, you’re the one that’s insane.”

“She thinks it was a low blow to diss Kanye and throw around words like ‘insane’ after all he’s been through,” a source tells HollywoodLife. “Kanye had a real difficult time last year and is still coming out of it, so to hit him like that wasn‘t cool.”

West is still claiming he is owed $3 million from Tidal and has reportedly parted ways with the streaming service and is vowing to never sign an exclusive streaming deal again.
