Tonight (June 15), Jay Z will make history when he becomes the first rapper ever inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Naturally, plenty of people are celebrating his accomplishment, among them are André 3000 and Scarface.

Tidal has launched a commemorative page featuring quotes paying tribute to Jay Z from hip-hop legends like Chuck D, Rakim, Posdnuos, Nicki Minaj, Chance The Rapper, Pharrell and many more.

In a special message dedicated to Hov, Three Stacks, himself one of hip-hop's most revered lyricists, recognizes the influence of the Brooklyn legend.

"Jay Z's contribution to music as a writer is pivotal. You can hear his wit and hustle stylings in the backbones of some of the biggest and respected artists of today," reads the OutKast member's note. "But even more importantly, he has verbally taught new generations how to understand their personal worth and create opportunities for others around them."

Houston rap legend Scarface took the effusive praise a good bit further, saying Hov's "gotta be the best songwriter of all time" because he writes everything in his head, without the use of a pen—or an iPhone. Scarface goes on to praise Hov's "unmatched" ability to extract the rawest details of street life and put them into songs. Sounds about right.

Others showing love to Jay include Jay Electronica, who says Hov is now right where he belongs, Rick Ross, who calls Hov an "unadulterated genius," and the "Frank Sinatra of his time," and Common, who quoted a Hov lyric from "You Don't Know" before launching into his praise.

“'Put me anywhere on God’s green Earth I triple my worth,'” Common says, invoking "You Don't Know." It's a perfect set up for an explanation of what makes Jigga's lyricism so potent.

“In the process of writing a song it has to be something that you feel and then the people will feel it. Writing songs takes creativity, inspiration, imagination, and the ability to channel your experience and the experience of others," Com says.

He continues, "Jay Z has been a leader of the culture expressing many people’s experiences but also takes us to where our dreams and imaginations can go. His lyrics are clever, charismatic and intelligent. He also brought wit and personality to his songwriting style. His music always provides a perspective of what one can accomplish coming from Marcy to influencing the World. When I think about his body of work some of my favorites are ‘Can’t Knock the Hustle,’ ‘Public Service Announcement,’ and ‘Heart of the City.’ He exemplifies an artist that can write in any time period and his lines have created philosophies for people’s lives.”

And there might be more celebrating soon. Rumors are swirling that Beyoncé has given birth to her long-awaited twins. We'll have to wait for the official announcement, but we're sending our congrats to hip-hop's royal couple in advance.
