Future, Kendrick Lamar and More Among Spotify’s Predictions for Songs of Summer 2017

Summer 2017 has more or less arrived, and so have Spotify's predictions for the biggest songs of the season. Unsurprisingly, Kendrick Lamar and Future both found their way onto the streaming service's Songs of Summer hitlist, which also includes rap game luminaries like DJ Khaled, Lil Uzi Vert and Logic, as well as singers like Selena Gomez, Katy Perry, Camila Cabello and Miley Cyrus.

Entries on Spotify's Songs of Summer list are reportedly chosen based on extensive trend analysis, chart performance, social media and activity on Spotify itself. Sounds like a pretty complete way to go about it.

Making the list a good bit more fun, the streaming service offered up descriptions for the situations in which you might find yourself playing each song on the list. K. Dot's DAMN. track "DNA" was listed as a track for "The Summer Workout," while Future's "Mask Off" is listed as "The Rap Cut." Lil Uzi Vert's “XO TOUR Llif3” is listed as being the "Best Trap Option," and Logic's Alessia Cara and Khalid-assisted “1-800-273-8255” is described as a "Song with an Important Message."

Nicki Minaj also claims a spot on the list by appearing with her feature on Katy Perry's "Swish Swish" (Ultimate Club Banger), while Quavo, Chance The Rapper and Lil Wayne pop up on Khaled's ubiquitous single "I'm the One" (Lounging by the Pool Song). Quavo even pops up a second time on Liam Payne's "Strip That Down" (The Party Song).
