Earlier today (April 12), news broke that comedian Charlie Murphy passed away after a lengthy battle with leukemia. The former Chappelle's Show star reportedly died in a New York hospital at the age of 57 due to the cancer, which was confirmed by his publicist and manager this morning. He has reportedly been undergoing chemotherapy treatment in recent months to fight the illness.

Fans and loved ones are taking the news hard, which includes many hip-hop figures that appreciated the longtime comedian's work over the years. Celebrities posted to Twitter and Instagram to share their reactions to the actor's death, tributing his life and impact in Hollywood. Many are even sharing unreleased stories and outtakes from Murphy's career in the comedy industry.

Charlie, who is also the brother of actor Eddie Murphy, most recently got off of the Comedy Get Down tour with Cedric The Entertainer, Eddie Griffin, D.L. Hughley and George Lopez last year. He also recently garnered up voice credits in the animated series Black Dynamite, as well as Black Jesus, and is well known for co-writing his brother's Vampire in Brooklyn and Norbit films. The comedian originally made his acting debut in Harlem Nights in 1989, which was directed by his brother, whom he started out as a bodyguard for. His best known role, however, came as himself for his Rick James True Hollywood Stories skits on Chappelle's Show in the 2000s.

See how 50 Cent, Nas, DJ Premier and plenty others are reacting to the horrible news. Our prayers are with his loved ones during this tough time.
