DMX is back in rehab. Yesterday (April 27), the Yonkers, N.Y. rapper checked himself into a treatment center in Southern California, according to TMZ. His decision to seek help comes after he canceled multiple tour dates due to a "medical emergency."

Family, friends and fans have been concerned about DMX's health due to his behavior at the Ruff Ryders reunion show, which took place on April 21. Fans shared stories of the rapper having a difficult time performing throughout the night. Those in attendance said X was gargling indecipherable sounds instead of lyrics during his set.

“DMX is standing on a speaker and he definitely has some substances in his body,” one concertgoer wrote on Twitter. “This crowd is stressed for his safety.”

The "Get at Me Dog" rapper has struggled with substance abuse for much of his career. Last year, the veteran MC was found unconscious and without a pulse outside of a Yonkers hotel. The circumstances led to speculation of a possible drug overdose.

DMX chose to enter rehab on his own, but was encouraged to do so by his manager Pat Gallo and ex-wife Tashera Simmons. Gallo issued a statement to fans about DMX's well being following the cancellation of the tour dates.

"It is important right now that he take some time off to focus on his health so that he can be a better father, friend and entertainer," Gallo said. "We are eternally grateful for the outpouring of concern and support that has poured in. We ask that you please keep X in your prayers as he embraces your support."

In 2010, the rapper was eager to join Celebrity Rehab, a reality-driven TV show focused on helping cast members with treatment for a variety of issues.
