Bump J Released From Federal Prison

Chicago's own Bump J is a free man after serving seven years in FCI Elkton in Lisbon, Ohio, Fake Shore Drive reports. Apparently, he was released from the prison today at 7 a.m. EST and at the time of the site's report, was en route to his home town of Chicago.

All the way back in 2009, Bump J was sentenced to a minimum of seven years after being convicted for a 2007 bank robbery in Oak Park, IL. Now, he's finally free.

Last year, we spoke with the Chi-Town stalwart while he was still behind bars. Although lots of things have changed since he's been locked up, he explained that he didn't believe rap's evolving landscape would have much of an impact on his career going forward.

"I think it won’t be much different than when I was out," he explained last summer. "I’ve gotten better musically because I’m just a better man, mentally. So, I think hip-hop will love me just the same, if not more. People respect struggle and stand up niggas. I took my lick and never told, so I will always be respected as a man and that’s what’s important. Music has always been the easy part to me."

Hopefully he links up with Kanye West when he gets out. Yeezy actually helped pay for some of the Chi-town legend's lawyer fees during his ordeal.
