Kevin Gates’ Wife Issues Statement on Rapper’s Jail Release Being Postponed

The last few days have been a roller-coaster ride for Kevin Gates and his family. After thinking he was about to be released from jail on Friday (March 24), after serving out a 180-day sentence,  the rapper was held on outstanding warrants in another state. He remains locked up, and is currently in the process of being extradited to Cook County, Ill. to possibly face more charges.

Gates' wife, Dreka, recently released a statement on her Instagram page thanking fans and asking them to keep her husband in their thoughts and prayers during these trying times. “To everyone that’s rooting for Kevin right now, THANK YOU, but PLEASE shift your thoughts, prayers, energy, etc. towards the idea of Kevin being home and enjoying life as a free man,” she wrote. “Do NOT dwell on the things that have been put out by the media. Their only goal in anything is to grab/seek attention, not necessarily to release information that is FACTUAL.”

She added, "I definitely miss my buddy more than you all know."

French Montana recently sent Gates a virtual kite on Instagram, showing support for the incarcerated rapper. “One time for my Muslim brother,” he started. “Me and chinx (rest in peace🙏) was the first dudes to do a feat With this brother. Before People even knew who he was 2011 I hate watching the system and all the hate killing us and our brother and killing the people that love us #freegates #freemax #foreverchinx #freekodac #freepenthouse,” he added.
