Today, March 6, is the 27th birthday of hip-hop producer Lexus Lewis, better known to the rap world as Lex Luger.

Borrowing his professional moniker from the famous WWE wrestler Lex Luger, this Lex is a monster of beat making. Born in Virginia, young Lex started getting into the production game when he moved to Atlanta. Lex Luger created the production crew 808 Mafia along with rapper Waka Flocka Flame and fellow beat smith Southside in 2010. Together the growing production crew made their presence known in hip-hop by producing for the likes of Gucci Mane, Future, 2 Chainz, Chief Keef, Young Thug, Juicy J and more. In 2012, the crew dropped their self-titled debut album under Brick Squad Monopoly and Trap-A-Holics. 808 Mafia is often hailed for bridging the genres of hip-hop and EDM through their use of 808's, bass drops and dance music influence.

To date, Lex Luger and 808 Mafia have had a hand in some of hip-hop's biggest bangers. 808's Tarentino produced Future's "March Madness" and the crew's Fuse and Tre Pounds produced Big Sean's "Moves." As for Lex Luger, the young buck is responsible for beats like "That Way," "Round of Applause," "Champions" and more.

Lex Luger recently got into it with Waka on Twitter over a claim the rapper made regarding the invention of the 808 wave. “@WakaFlocka bra u don’t make beats how u start the ‘808 wave’ ? Hit my phone g. I’m confused,” tweeted Lex. More on that story here.

Happy Birthday, Lex Luger!
