Vince Staples Drops Bars on Jahkoy’s “California Heaven” Remix

Vince Staples drops some of his customary flames on Jahkoy's "California Heaven" remix. Listen to the L.A.-Toronto connection for yourself up top.

The original version of "California Heaven" features a verse from SchoolBoy Q, but Vince more than does his thing on the remix, where he raps about a girl with a "Smile like sunshine" and a "waist like the waves." He uses a quick-fire flow in a track that feels like the 2016 version of " California Girls," except he gets a little more instrospective on the track as he touches on everything from the subtle pressures of commercialism to his situation with women that's "quite perplexing" because he can't get rid of his "past perception." He packs a lot into a little bit of time, but that's just the sort of lyrical density we've come to expect from the former XXL Freshman.

Vince has been up to some big things in 2016, and he'll look to continue doing them in the coming year. Just a few weeks ago, he announced his Life Aquatic tour, which will be his first ever headlining tour in North America. You can peep the tour dates for yourself below.
