Remy Ma and Papoose paid a visit to Funk Flex and the Hot 97 studios recently, each freestyling over classic beats. Remy goes first, demolishing the "N.Y. State of Mind" beat with punchlines both topical and diabolical. "I just need y’all to know, I preaproved and showed Flex the date and time this shit was written," she says, holding up her phone. Afterward Remy says she wrote the bars on the drive over.

During the free, she raps, "I’m straight Remy, no chase, boo/And ya’ll a bunch of old birds, y’all just grey goose/I’m probably the only chick that make Flex drop bombs/Got more punchlines than thirsty niggas at prom." She finishes by celebrating her two Soul Train Award victories and the news this week that she and Fat Joe were nominated for two Grammys, their hit "All the Way Up" recognized in the categories of Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song.

Speaking with XXL, Remy said she is humbled the nominations and was the one to tell Joe about the news. "We’ve both have been up, up, up on the highest of highs and we both have been down on the lowest of lows, and, just at this point in my life I don’t take anything for granted,” she said. continues. “Any artist putting out any type of project, that’s one of their hopes, whether they voice it out loud or not. So I’m pretty sure we both were like, ‘Shit, that would be dope.’ You know, when we were going to these other award shows, ‘It would be crazy to get a Grammy.’ But to actually have it happen is a whole different ball game. The chance of actually achieving it is right there in your face, not once, but twice.”

Watch her and Papoose leave the Hot studio in pieces with their freestyles above.
