Two months after signing a two-year film and TV deal with The Weinstein Company, Jay Z's upcoming Kalief Browder documentary has an official premiere date. According to Okayplayer, the first two episode of the docuseries TIME: The Kalief Browder Story will debut at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival in January.

The docuseries will focus on Browder, who was arrested at age 16 before being imprisoned on Rikers Island for three years, even though he was never convicted of a crime. During his imprisonment, Browder was forced to endure over 1,000 days of solitary confinement. He took his own life just two years after being released from the infamous prison.

Browder's story galvanized many to re-evaluate America's prison system, and Jay Z took it upon himself to tell the fallen young man's story. Jay met Browder some time after his release, and was hurt when he learned the prison survivor had taken his own life. In a press conference this past October, Jay explained that he believed Browder was a sort of hero.

"I look at Kalief Browder as a modern day prophet. Our prophets come in many different shapes, forms, or mediums," Jay explained. "This young man just by the fact that he brought all of us here today lets you know how powerful of a soul he was."
