From nearly announcing an early retirement to having his negotiations with Birdman flipped upside down, Lil Wayne has gone through a lot over the last few months. Apparently, none of those things have prevented the "Fireman" performer from putting together a new body of work. During a recent appearance on The Nine Club podcast, the New Orleans native told the show hosts his new project, titled Funeral, is coming soon. You can peep Weezy's announcement for yourself around the 56:20 mark in the video up top.

Weezy says he doesn't have a release date, but he does promise a lot of good things for his fans. "I have a whole bunch of good news coming soon," he explains in the interview. "If you are a Wayne fan —I know we've been going through a lot of tough times right now—but if you are a Wayne fan, we're about to hold our heads high."

Sounds like good news is on the way for Weezy fans. As we mentioned before, the Young Money MC has had a tough go of things lately, and his failing contract negotiations with Birdman pushed him to the brink of nearly giving up just a few months ago. If you were waiting to listen to new Weezy material, it was looking like you were going to be out of luck. With the announcement of Funeral, it now appears that Weezy's love of hip-hop is as irrepressible as ever, and we'll be getting new music really soon.

Negotiations between Wayne and Birdman were apparently progressing until Weezy replace Cash Money with Roc-A-Fella in a lyric of his while performing at Camp Flog Gnaw. Baby caught wind of that and called off talks.
