You can count Joey Badass as another supporter of Colin Kaepernick. During an interview with KMEL 106.1's Shay Diddy, the Brooklyn rapper expressed his appreciation for the San Francisco 49ers quarterback's ongoing protest of the national anthem. He also wished more athletes would join in the protest.

"I think Colin Kaepernick is really important," Joey said. "Because we haven't seen an athlete step up and really address these social issues - racial injustice issues - going on in the world since Muhammad Ali. I think the fact that Colin is stepping up is really what we need. And I think more athletes should step up as well."

Joey Badass said his AABA album will center around the racial inequality and police brutality that sparked Kaepernick's protest. The Pro Era member explained how he's nervous about this new direction because he's not sure how listeners will react to it.

"I am nervous about this album, because it's the first musical body of work that I've made that is focused mainly on these topics," Joey said. "I really channeled a lot energy into speaking and touching on these topics. It makes me nervous because this album is something that's very good for the world right now, but it might not be everything that you want. But it's everything you need."

Earlier today (Oct. 20), Joey Badass released a new single off his upcoming LP. The track, titled "Front and Center," features production by Cookin' Soul.
