Good news and bad news for French Montana fans everywhere. The good news is that French is planning to start a record label with Max B., who has recently had his prison sentence reduced and could be home as soon as 2018. The bad news is that the "No Shopping" rapper has officially scrapped his album MC4. Ouch. The Coke boy touched on the good and bad in a recent interview.

When asked about the setbacks with MC4, French explains that waiting for sample clearances disrupted his work flow. "Songs like 'I'm Heated' and 'Two Times' couldn't be cleared. By the time I got the mix how I recorded it, it wasn't the same. I just ain't have the same feeling for it," French says. "Everybody had to replay shit, and do all this extra shit, so I wasn't in the mood to put it together. All the music going to come out, you know what I'm saying, just packaged differently. Plus, the album got leaked."

The revelation that MC4 has been canceled offers us an answer for the question of why the project's pre-order mysteriously disappeared from iTunes. Fans will now have to wait to hear more of French's latest project, and even longer to get their cyber hands on a proper follow-up to his 2013 debut, Excuse My French. He's 70 percent done with his next project though, and wants to drop a mixtape in October.

This somewhat stunning piece of news is disappointing, but at least it arrives with French's announcement that he plans to start a record label with his day one, Max B. During his interview, French spoke a bit about Max B's eventual release from prison and the prospect of the two starting a label together. "The earliest he can be out is two years; the latest is six to seven," he explained. "They reduced his 75 years to two years. [When he gets out] I think me and him are going to partner up with our own label. He's the illest when it comes to names, so I'm waiting for him [to choose a name for the label]. That's the Silver Surfer."

French gave some details on MC4 and his longstanding relationship with Max B in his XXL digital cover story, which you read below.
