Shawty Lo's death has sent a shock wave through the Atlanta music scene as people are still reeling from the tragic news. The "Dey Know" rapper and Bankhead legend was killed in an auto accident on Wednesday (Sept. 21), and now the official cause of death has been released by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office. According to the report, obtained by the AJC, Lo ultimately died from "blunt force injury to the head."

The crash that killed the beloved rapper and injured two passengers occurred on the I-285 southbound ramp to Cascade Road. Lo’s 2016 Audi crashed over a guardrail, hitting several trees and catching fire at the Cascade Road exit on the southbound I-285. Authorities say that Lo died at the scene after being ejected from the vehicle, with two others taken to the hospital. The crash occurred around 2:20 a.m after Shawty Lo left the Blue Flame nightclub.

It can not be confirmed at this time if alcohol was a factor.

Since the death, the hip-hop community has been vocal about the West Side rapper's impact on their lives and on the game.
