In a sea of new releases from Young Thug, Travis Scott, Isaiah Rashad and many more, it can be a little easy to forget that J. Cole is one of the rap game's most dominating forces. The folks at Roc Nation served everyone a reminder when they congratulated the North Carolina wordsmith for having his singles "Crooked Smile" (Born Sinner) and "Can't Get Enough" (Cole World: The Sideline Story) go platinum.

According to the RIAA, the newly minted platinum status of Cole's two throwback singles brings his total number of platinum plaques to nine. In other words, Cole has six platinum singles and three platinum albums – and is still a rap God.

Although it feels like Cole has been away forever, it's been less than two years, and it used to be common for rappers to put a year or more in between new projects. Released at the tail end of 2014, 2014 Forest Hills Drive famously went platinum without the help of any features and let everyone know just how dynamic the "No Role Modelz" performer could be.

In 2016 fans haven't gotten to see much of Cole's dynamic talent in action, but the Dreamville representer did recently join the stage with one of the biggest names in hip-hop. On Aug. 8, Cole joined Drake onstage during the Toronto rapper's performance at Madison Square Garden.

During the show, Cole performed "No Role Modelz" and “A Tale Of 2 Citiez” off 2014 Forest Hills Drive along with his guest verse on Jeremih’s “Planez.” By the end of the performance, Drizzy called Cole “one of the smartest, greatest, most legendary artists of our generation,” and we don't disagree with him. Neither do the charts.
