On Wednesday, Oct. 19, Alicia Keys and Keep a Child Alive (KCA) will host their 13th annual Black Ball, and by the end of their star-studded humanitarian event, attendees will have seen one of rap's most electrifying entertainers. That entertainer is none other than A$AP Rocky, who was recently announced as one of the night's headliners along with Patti Smith and Keys herself.

This year's Black Ball will aim to recapture the sense of urgency that spurred activists to try to find a cure for AIDS and increase awareness about safe sex. Rocky now joins Jay Z and Nas as rappers who've performed at the annual event, and there are still set to be more artists announced to perform.

KCA's Black Ball has raised $28.7 million for families affected by HIV, and when Rocky performs at this year's edition, he will undoubtedly be contributing to the struggle to help those families. Such a move definitely falls in line with his July comments about wanting to promote positivity, even though he doesn't want to be put on a moral pedestal or enter politics.

“You got your modern rappers, like your favorite rappers today, you don’t always hear their content being about the political shit going on,” he told The Breakfast Club while explaining the way he felt his views were misrepresented by what he called a few misquotes. “Why put me on a pedestal for that, especially when I’m not asking for that? I want to make music, I want to inspire, I want to promote peace. 'Cause at a time like this, I don’t have all the answers. I’m not trying to run for congress. I want to promote prosperity, especially for black people.”
