Vic Mensa let the fans in attendance at Lollapalooza 2016 get a sneak peek of his highly anticipated album. The Chicago rapper performed two new songs during his set including a very personal one about his fallen friend Killa Cam. That untitled record, which you can hear above, falls under the new direction his next album is taking.

"I made an album and then I didn’t feel like it was the right representation," Vic said in a recent interview. "So I started making a new album. That’s where the songs from There’s Alot Going On came out of. I would say it’s about 75% done."

The Roc Nation rapper scrapped his Traffic title for the album too. The tragic events around the world and in Vic's hometown have shaped the content of the There's Alot Going On EP and his forthcoming LP.

“Being from Chicago, Laquan McDonald being murdered by Chicago police was something that was very close to home," Vic said. "I’ve had a bad relationship with police as long as I can remember because that’s how the system is set up. I’ve been wanting to write a song like ’16 Shots’ for a long time to express that. The Laquan situation just put it on a world stage, so that was something I felt compelled to address."

The other record Vic performed at Lollapalooza 2016 was a collaboration with Joey Purp. The song, which can be streamed below, may sound familiar though. That's because it is the much lauded freestyle Vic and Purp performed during their latest appearance on Sway in the Morning.
