Today (Aug. 5), Slim Thug delivers his new album Hogg Life, Vol. 4: American King. The 15-track body of work contains features from Boosie BadAzz, X.O. and Nikki Lactson.

Over the past month, the Houston, Texas rapper dropped singles "IDKY" and "King" leading up to today's full-album release. On "IDKY," Thug tackles the issue of police brutality in America. He spits, “I was born and raised in the USA / Where we see cops killing blacks on the news every day / And they do it like it’s okay, like they know they gon’ get away / To stop myself from thinking reckless I just ignore it and pray.”

If you want more recent Slim Thug music, peep his collaboration with Paul Wall, Z-Ro, Lil Keke, J-Dawg and Chamillionaire for "Swangin' in the Rain (Remix)." The "Still Tippin" rapper also recently teamed up with Z-Ro on "Shake Life."

A few weeks ago, Slim Thug and a bunch of other H-town rappers opened accounts at black-owned banks. Houston mayor Sylvester Turner met with the group of MCs to discuss ways to curb violence. Turner said, “There a lot of people in our city that have lost hope. And people are feeling helpless. People in many ways are feeling disrespected, and these individuals here – these artists – they have collectively more power than I do.”
