French Montana's album rollout has hit a speed bump. The Morrocco-born, South Bronx-bred rapper has announced today (Aug. 16) that his latest album, MC4, will be delayed. The "Lockjaw" rapper took to Twitter to share the unfortunate news with fans, citing that pending sample clearances was the reason for the delay.

"I want to apologize to my fans that are waiting," wrote French in a tweet earlier this afternoon. "I want to make sure the album is something special."

Four years after releasing his debut LP, French's sophomore effort MC4 was scheduled to drop this Friday, Aug. 19. Features on the project include Kanye West, Drake, Nas, Chinx, Beanie Sigel, A$AP Rocky Jadakiss, Max B, Kodak Black and Styles P. French and Epic Records even held a listening event in New York City last week for rap fans and music critics. For those who couldn't make it, the album's singles, "Lockjaw" featuring Kodak Black and "Said N Done" featuring A$AP Rocky are climbing the charts.

XXL spoke with the Coke Boy himself about his upcoming album's impressive features for our first ever digital cover last month.

“[Putting ‘Paid For’ on the album is] very important because [Max B and Chinx] represent everything that I am,” French explained. "... Me just having them is keeping my brothers’ name alive and keeping the whole Coke Boy movement alive. Me putting them on there it means a lot to the fans, it means a lot to me, it means a lot to the culture.”

There's no word yet on the new release date.
