Miami's Eskeerdo releases his long awaited project Cuban Jesus. The Cuban rapper/songwriter has been penning lyrics for industry stars like Rihanna and Trey Songz in the past. Now fans get six solid records from Esk for their enjoyment. The title of the project may poke nerves, but Eskeerdo, born Alexander Izquierdo, had a pretty good reason why called it Cuban Jesus.

"Everywhere I started going, especially black girls, [girls] scream out, 'Jesus, Jesus, Jesus'," said Eskeerdo to Billboard. "And I would always play with them, like, 'Come here, girl, let me save you.' All Jesus pieces are usually on Cuban links and I'm Cuban so it meshed together."

He adds, "My first project, I wanted to tell the story of Eskeerdo and where he was from, how he grew up, the neighborhood he grew up [in] and just basically how it is to be Cuban-American in Miami off the beach 'cause the beach and Miami are two different places," he says, distinguishing between South Beach and his native Hialeah, a city in Miami-Dade County. "Cuban Jesus is definitely more female-oriented."

Eskeerdo stepped out from the background last year and released his self-titled EP in March 2015. Now with a full momentum of steam provided by his latest releases, "Weekend Behavior" and "Nights at the Standard," Eskeerdo is coming into his own. Esk was overseas in Europe for 30 days, plane hoping from countries like France, Italy, Switzerland and more. Bump the project above.
