Rich Homie Quan has been scrutinized after he messed up The Notorious B.I.G.'s lyrics during a performance at last night's (July 11) VH1 Hip Hop Honors event. The Atlanta rapper was handling Biggie's part on the Junior M.A.F.I.A. song "Get Money" and flubbed the lines. Quan quickly became the punching bag for Twitter following his mistake, but faced some much harsher criticism from Joey Badass.

"What rich homie did on the vh1 honors is everything that's wrong with hip hop," Joey Badass wrote.

Joey Badass' slam of Rich Homie Quan is one of the more intense reactions that's emerged in the aftermath. Many fans and media alike have questioned why Quan was even chosen to perform The Notorious B.I.G.'s verse. While the Atlanta native certainly deserves blame for not learning the words, VH1 is also at fault for putting the "Type of Way" rapper in this situation. Someone like Joey Badass would have made a lot more sense for the role.

The incident is reminiscent of the 2007 VH1 Hip Hop Honors show where Lupe Fiasco found himself in a similar position to Rich Homie Quan. At that year's event, Fiasco was asked to be a part of the set honoring A Tribe Called Quest. During the performance of "Electric Relaxation," the Chicago MC butchered Phife Dawg's lyrics and experienced the same ridicule that Quan has felt. Fiasco would later defend himself by stating that he did not grow up listening to A Tribe Called Quest and only did the show because Q-Tip reached out to him personally.
