Ezzy Pens a Letter to the Ghetto on “Goodbye” From Nas’ ‘The Land’ Soundtrack

The soundtrack for The Land, an upcoming Nas-produced film, is set to drop on July 29. In a new single called "Goodbye," Cleveland rapper Ezzy personifies the ghetto he grew up in and describes the bittersweet feeling of leaving his native city.

Ezzy shows off his smooth flow and thoughtful lyrics throughout the three-and-half minute track. The Cleveland MC spits, "I'm packing my bags moving on to something better/Goodbye ghetto, I promise I'mma love you forever/Remember all the time we spent together?/Had me acting just like you, so mama was always fed up/You told me fuck college, street knowledge'll make me successful/And that you would be my professor for every single semester/You taught the art of finessin' and I thank you for that/Then you sent my brother to prison, I could hang you for that."

The SoundCloud caption states, "The highly anticipated, coming-of-age film as well as the soundtrack has Nas on board as executive producer. The first single, 'Goodbye,' features two of the film’s stars: Ezzy, an upcoming and coming rapper from Cleveland, who many will remember by his freestyle on Sway in the Morning and Rafi Gavron, the producer, previously seen in Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, amongst others."

The Steven Caple Jr.-directed film will release on July 29 on video-on-demand services, the same day that the soundtrack drops. The movie's soundtrack will also contain music from artists including Kanye West, Pusha T and Esco himself. Kanye and Nas recently collaborated for "Figure It Out" on French Montana's mixtape, Wave Gods.
