Baltimore MC Lor Scoota was shot and killed while driving in Northeast Baltimore, Md. on Saturday (June 25), reports CBS Baltimore.

According to authorities, the incident occurred around 7PM. Scoota, born, Tyriece Watson, 23, was driving eastbound on Moravia Road at Harford Road when a masked gunman stepped out into the street and opened fire on the vehicle driven by the rapper, witnesses say.

He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

According to the news report, earlier that day, Scoota was in attendance at the “Touch the People Pray for Peace in These Streets” event at Morgan State University.

“I am saddened to hear about the senseless murder of Tyrice 'Lor Scoota' Watson," councilman Nick Mosby said about the death. "He had a heart for youth and took the time out of his schedule to join me on my #EyeAmBaltimore Tour to high schools in West Baltimore following last year’s uprising where he spoke about the importance of staying in school.”

The rapper was signed to Young Ballers Shinning Records, but was also somehow affiliated with Meek Mill's Dreamchasers. Meek took to Instagram to express his condolences. "Damn #lorscoota I seen so many young niggas fall victim Tryna make it out #restup," he posted under a picture of the rapper rocking a bunch of chains. Among them, an iced-out Dreamchasers piece.

Back in January, Dreamchasers artist Chino was shot in the head while sitting in a car in Northwest Baltimore. He later recovered from his injuries.
