Lil Yachty has a lot of projects in the works. The past couple of months have seen the Atlanta rapper mention plans for collaborative mixtapes with Lil B and Soulja Boy, iLoveMakonnen and Rich the Kid. Lil Yachty decided to add to all of that today (June 8) with an announcement of a Sailing Team compilation.

"Meet the Sailing Team," Lil Yachty wrote. "Compilation mixtape coming soon. Learn the faces, this is our year."

There is not a lot of information out there about the Sailing Team except for it being a collective led by Lil Yachty. The crew is made up of Lil Boat's friends who are rappers and producers. As his Instagram message mentions, it looks like this compilation will be the mainstream audience's first chance to learn the faces of the group.

It comes as no surprise that Lil Yachty wants to use his new stardom to give a spotlight to his friends. When the rapper spoke to XXL earlier this year, he mentioned his whole team coming along for the ride.

"I can’t see myself being nobody," Lil Yachty said. "Like I’m me. The next superstar that’s it, I can’t be the next somebody else I can only be me. Shows, crazy visuals, merch, I got my sound team, my homies, my producers, all my friends, we’re just really going to rock out. Get to know us."

There is no release for the Sailing Team compilation, but XXL will keep you posted as we learn more about the upcoming project.
